Safety & Swap Rules
Last updated September 5, 2026
The short version
- Keep every conversation inside PCS Swaps until you meet.
- Meet on-installation or in a busy public lot, in daylight.
- Inspect and test the item before you hand over any money.
- Pay the seller in person — never wire money or send gift cards.
- Report anything that feels off; blocking someone takes two taps.
Do
- Use your real name and base so the other person knows who they are meeting.
- Ask for extra photos, the model plate, or a short video before you travel.
- Bring someone with you, and tell a friend where you are going.
- Check voltage and plug type before buying appliances for your next country.
- Confirm the pickup window in messages so there is a written record.
Don't
- Don't move to text, WhatsApp or email before a hold is paid.
- Don't send deposits, shipping fees or “verification codes” to a member.
- Don't share military ID, orders, passports or bank details with anyone here.
- Don't buy sight-unseen from someone who refuses to meet.
- Don't list weapons, ammunition, alcohol, tobacco, pets, or anything a status of forces agreement bars you from selling locally.
Scam signals
- Pressure to decide immediately, or a story about deploying tomorrow.
- A price far below anything comparable on the feed.
- An offer to overpay and have you refund the difference.
- Requests to pay outside the app for a “hold” — real holds are only ever paid through PCS Swaps.
About holds
A hold is a small deposit that reserves an item and unlocks the seller's contact details. It is a platform service charge, not the item price, and it is non-refundable. The item itself is paid directly to the seller when you pick it up. Full detail is in the fee disclosure.
If something goes wrong
Use the report option on the listing, the member's page, or inside the conversation. You can also block someone so they can no longer message you. For anything urgent — a disputed hold, a suspected scam, a member who will not respond — contact support and we will look at the account.
